Perhaps I Am Wrong

Jacobi
I direct the gaze of Canadian citizens to this topic in Open Canadian Congress. My apologies to non-citizens who cannot read this link, but it would not be lawful for me to reproduce it here.
I ask you,
Am I wrong to point out an issue, so ingrained in the trust of the Prime Minister, in Congress?
William Duncan thinks its showboating and that I should have dealt with this privately, without your knowledge.
I think that any circumstance where trust of public officials is put into doubt, as I believe it has in this case, needs to be explored in an accountable and transparent manner. I'm not affiliated with the administration in any capacity, so I have no desire to participate in what I see as damage control, and when I see a Prime Minister actively trying to not answer questions of Congress, or trying to turn questions around on a Congressman, I get more suspicious -- not less.
Am I wrong to worry about the possibility of theft in the Canadian government?
William Duncan has threatened me with legal action for what I said in that thread...was I wrong to say it?
My entire four month administration was dedicated to preventing the loss of gold through effective uses of security procedures. And if there had been something that had gone awry, such as when Congress sent 50,000 to a dead organization, we made damn sure people knew about it. I wanted to conduct a government that was above board, and I wanted to be honest with people about situations like the one the government is facing today.
I don't think I'm the only one who cares about a Prime Minister, evading questions in Congress, exhorting Congress members to bring inconsistencies up in private, not public, and then trying to make the issue about the Congressman himself, rather than what is a very serious breech in Canadian security. The Prime Minister here had the opportunity to put us all at ease but was deliberately and oddly vague. Perhaps he does not think that Canadian players ought to know, he certainly doesn't believe Congress should.
However, perhaps I am wrong and perhaps this is about ego and showboating and all that fun stuff in which case I ask you kindly to ignore this article as the deranged musings of a powerless mongoose. And I should then apologize to the Prime Minister for so thoroughly embarrassing myself and causing him a headache. My last intention here has been to tar the good reputation of the Prime Minister for openness, honesty, transparency and accountability.
Perhaps I am wrong...I just don't think I am. :/

Hmm
Section 3.4 of the constitution states:
"4.3 The Congress, or individual Congressman shall have the right to demand, and receive, within a reasonable frame of time, information on current or past governmental and ministerial activities, with the exception of those activities regarding the Ministry of National Defence and CSIS, which may be released at the discretion of the current President."
I think specific details as to what happened to these organizations is not a threat to national security, and the executive is obligated to provide the congress and public with these details~ (as specific as can be ;p )
~hyuu~
errm, 4.3 xD
Oh god. Just when I was getting used to the lack of petty bickering it begins anew. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Derek, welcome to Canada? 🙂
Good point Nosyt, WD is obligated to produce actual facts.
>😉erek, welcome to Canada? 🙂
Yeah, they've been doing that for as long as I can remember, which is about a year and a half.
And yo Jacobi, I'm real happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Adam Sutler vs Cottus Arci was the best Canadian rivalry of all time. OF ALL TIME.

->Orgasmed 🙂

Nope you are not wrong ... and even though I have only played for a short time, from what I have seen is there is no government transparency, which makes me wonder what the heck is going on. With some Congress members, yes they act transparently, others, you are right, they are either showboating and give glib answers when questions are asked ... I will check out your link ...
Jacobi- Former PM of Canada turned investigative reporter??
Nice article sir. Why is the government not more transparent than it is?? What are they hiding I wonder......... ???
About the article Jacobi, you are 100% right.
I've known first hand what losing money will do, you MUST tell the public ASAP.
Transparency and accountability are one of our most prized values, we must be able to trust our government.
Everyone always TALKS about transparency and accountability during the campaigns, but it never happens. I just ignore it when politicians mention it, just roll my eyes...I don't have an eye rolling smilie, so imagine I do.
Transparency/Accountability = most used political words....unless your WD, then it's "Power. Power! POWEEEER!" 😛
I Voted for the Other Guy!
Run, children! It's the Great Wall of Text! ^
I would disagree Spencer. I spend hours preparing my voting records for everyone's reading pleasure. I wrote a statement encouraging the use of open congress which was widely accepted. I have also encouraged citizens to contact me about any concerns they have and I answer appropriately and as expeditiously as possible.
Transparency is more than just a catchphrase for me. 😉
FWIW, a total outsider's perspective
- a former PM throwing his weight around? check
- is that a good thing if done wisely? check
- was there a valid point being made? check
- was it business about the org a really, really big deal? NOPE
- did the PM dodge and weave instead of answer plainly? check
- did the government attempt to sweep it under the mat by announcing a fine new org rather than tell us this was a fix to a small problem? check
- is the PM telling us he's too important to have to deal with such fine details? check
- does this tell me that all the talk to strive greater transparency is BS? check
- is THAT a really, really big deal? I think so
As for the article, I think good points have been made on either side of the issue. We should definitely pursue the collection of debts owed to eCanada. In the future, a system of credit ratings should determine size/interest of the loans.
I have to say mr. Prime Minister. You are a very poor politician 😛
@Gaius Julius Caesar00
I think what Spencer was trying to say was that the actual campaigns themselves weren't transparent, and that's where you stepped in-to try to make the elections more fair. The trouble is, when you make a law about that, it will just get driven underground and the same things you sought to stamp out will just continue behind closed doors, so how do you fix it?
I don't understand the behaviour of our past presidents..... I had issues with Jacobi for demeaning the RM's... but even there there was BS going around on both sides at least. Now there is a legitimate issue and Jacobi simply presents facts and asks a question, this was escalated by WD not by Jacobi..... this behavior is disgusting for a prime minister.
William Duncan your job is to be in charge and held accountable for our entire government and the decisions of the executive branch. If you had taken the time initially to respond to jacobi's post fairly, you would have been able to spend MORE time taking care of the things that are truly important to canada. Now look at what its turned in to.
You congratulate Jacobi for this but I don't think you've given enough credit to yourself..
hoorah mr.president.
I thought that any "crimes" that occurred before the justice act was passed could not be revisited
This sh*t needs to be sorted ASAP!
First off I have to say that I agree with you Jacobi. These issues should be addressed and without all the resistance that you are meeting.
I have to say that this is so reminiscent of the transition from the Bruck/Jacobi government. I guess some things will never change.
WD you are accountable to the people who elected you.
"Voters don't elect me, contributers do..."
Tom Hanks as Charlie Wilson,
in the movie "Charlie Wilson's War".
"As for the article, I think good points have been made on either side of the issue. We should definitely pursue the collection of debts owed to eCanada. In the future, a system of credit ratings should determine size/interest of the loans."
very much agreed gaius. A credit rating system is what is needed. However, i think this will be a difficult to set up and maintain.
You are A-OK Jacobi
I see two things here, a former leader who seems to forget all to quickly and a current leader who has yet to learn the fine art of dealing with those who criticize.
"You are blasting me on two items:
2.) An organizations, and also a court case, which you permitted to sit and fester and collect dust throughout your entire four months as Prime Minister."
@WD - Please only make accusations when you completely understand the situation!!!
That organization with many defaulted loans was lost by an administration prior to Jacobi. After a few months Jacobi somehow recovered the organization and then tracked down each thread of the loans in the eRep forums and requested a trail and provided the gold required. All this during the peck of the war!!!
It is not Jacobi's fault that the game administration has not responded to the trails.
Duck and weave and run for cover,
How the bombast flies!
Spend our gold in great proportion...
Ferret out the lies!
Follow loss with even greater
Filching from the purse???
Common sense, I think would tell us
Not to make it worse!
Man thats a wall o text WD! Sorry but I think I am too lazy to read it.
"Oh god. Just when I was getting used to the lack of petty bickering it begins anew. The more things change, the more they stay the same."
Ha, this is the tip of the iceberg.
Oh yeah. Like we didn't see this attitude coming from the first day of his administration. heh.
jacobi thank you for brining this issue to light.
I need to try and read the congress forums more often. i'm only at page two of what i know is going to be a long night of post reading and i'm sitting here shaking my head.
national dodge ball team? i think so..
yahoo!! lets all trolling the eAustralian media!!
