Work tax
Liam Tatlock
It's now with us and currently at 18% in Ireland. Surprisingly, there's been little discussion about it so let's try and start one.
On the face of it, this is a tax that's likely to hit the older, more self-sufficient players harder and I'll use myself as an example, as I have no idea how many factories anybody else has.
I have >30 companies (weapons/food factories and raw material sites). The formula is,
Ave. wage x tax rate x number of factories worked in so, for me, that's
24.08 x 18% x 30 = 130 IEP per day (or 4.33 per click)
One argument is that this will see a rise in prices to compensate, but the Irish markets are slow enough as they are and not every has licences to enable them to sell on foreign markets, so where's the benefit to the player?
My response? Stop working in my factories. The floor is open for discussion on any benefits or penalties I've overlooked.
Comments
I too depend a lot on my WRM companies to get funded...today i paid 78 IEP for the tax and made a profit of 92 IEP. Obviously my actual profit wasn't more than 14 IEP.
I suspect a commune factory could hurt a lot more...
In my opinion the tax should lower to the minimum as soon as possible. Otherwise Plato will solve economy, by having players stop working their companies...and that's not a solution 🙂
I disagree with the last part, that is pretty much the only solution, currently we have almost limitless production for lower quality companies and RM's, so by forcing people to stop working is a much better fix than increasing the demand through missions.
It's an option to stop working and buying food in from the market. I buy most of my RM in when the price is right as it is, so it's not going to stop my production of Q7s at the moment. This is probably Plato's solution to the cries to fix the economy.
So how do small players survive with that "improvement"?
The same way everyone else will survive, getting rid of the things that are losing you money and waiting for the affects on the market.
Stopping playing and reducing demand would be a solution also. Less revenue for the government and fewer employees to work.
prette you will be losing money with what you are currently making money with i sell my stuff within a second literally if i click on the next link i got it. you need to buy a us market license as we are going to make a killing there 🙂
It is an opportunity for the government to create revenue but a high tax rate may cripple employers and communes as well. If I were to set the new rate it would be between 3% to start off as this will give the government some revenue to fund projects such as MPPs.
no you idiot it will be 0% they are making 800 a day are you daft or something. 3% we will donate to make up for the losses just propose the effin 0% already that is what all countries will do. but the usa who cant and whom we will be making tons of if you make our rate 0%

Guys 18% seems crazy and if the Government wants to keep it there (even if only for a week) then they will kill the patient not cure it. Drop the rate to 5% and let the Government monitor it for a few weeks to see the impact and then an educated decision can be made.
But to do this with such a high rate is just killing the economy and with people not working the Bank will lose money ie VAT on goods not made.
we will give you our effin 8 iep a day salary make it 1% or you are gonna kill a business oppurtunity of mine and i will have to move to poland for 18 days to cash in.

I would think the first day revenue change would be the best indication of change of revenue flow this created for a new tax rate to be calculated. I'm sure it will be very low just need an initial number to gauge to show if 1% is possible with the possibility up to 5% may be needed depending on how much of an extra cash influx is shown.
Definitely for the first few days you will see very little change on the market even if the tax was at 25%, because we have overproduced for so long that we have massive reserves of products. Let the government gather their data at this tax rate because they have probably put in more thought than we think.
we need 0% to make money on the us market there are an 18 days gap to double our money. build resources up. please. 0% little secret i will show on my article
The US market is much cheaper than our own, on your article you said that you imported food to our country from the US, this is not affected by the work tax.
yes but they will be increasing their prices its a massive market
its 24.08 * 18% per factory. thanks for the calculation.

The number of factories have no bearing. Obviosuly if there is no minimum cap adjusting the tax rate will have the desired effect. Hopefully. Can you propose it Liam
I can certainly propose it, I just want to gauge the general view to see whether I'm missing something obvious.
no made an adjustment to my article i am going to donate my entire salary to the MOF that will solve the problem if only 20% of the population does it.
propose it already liam i am gonna make a killing in the us market and need to start building up my stocks. as low as you can push that dial 0 % 0 % come on we need it. i will be making 1400 per day in a few days 🙂 it takes 24 hours to change so get cracking
I note the UK have proposed a reduction from 5% to 1% and it's currently passing 26-1.
Poland's is passing 25-0 from 15% to 1%, Spain's 24-1 from 13% to 1%
0% please if possible or 0.01 percent else
1% is the minimum.
Yeah but if we lower it now...what happens to our 1 week expiriment? Maybe we should keep it for a month and see who will be left working his companies...😛
Well the plan was a one week test to see how it went but I guess if enough people complain then the week could be shortened.
how what went so i should not work for a week so that you idiots can ass around with our countries future.
Did you read what I wrote? I said the plan ( the one that our CP with his finance team came up with I suppose) was a week to test. No one said it was set in stone. I said it could be changed if it was found out to be too harsh. No one said you had to stop working.
whose plan. think and speak up too many yes brothers in that stupid congress.
Consider this a complaint.
And before you jump down my throat some more Krakken for being a "yes man" you should know that I am for changing the rate. I just don't like being called an "idiot who asses around with our countries future".
have you read my article i have to pay 610 iep to make 760 iep if the prize holds if it drops i am in shit street without an paddle. where i could have exploited the us situation we are in the same stupid boat as them. really apparently you guys just get gold and money to support kunts dont you? this is probably the worst decision ever.
Once again I am not supporting anyone and am definitely not getting any gold.
well whether you are or not low level players cant make food to fight in the national strike mass producing players will leave for other countries, meaning losing a player like bhane who hit 130 million damage in the last strike. you still will make more than with the current system on average or i am certain players would have refunded the measly 870 iep per day we used to get.
Let me be added to the complaint list. I can't think of polite words to express my opinion of this tax.
I will bring it up in the Congress Thread I am a part of.
The calculation of average salary is a farce by eRep. There is NO WAY that is the average of active players. I have never had to consider quitting the game more seriously than this. eRep is doing it's best to disenfranchise players like me. A 1% rate is the only sensible policy for this tax.
Even without considering players like me, this policy hurts new players. A handful of small raw companies, and the starting farm are impossible to use. New players don't have the money to use those every day to feed themselves.
i went into offers still on the market there was a dead perma banned guy on there other guy just dead. we are paying through our asses for dead citizens that worked in the golden ages here 😠

Scores on the doors 6-3 as I type
Update - 7 Yes 10 No!
Is there any way to find out what morons are voting against?
It has been known in Ireland for years that a good few in congress will vote no to anything if they don't see actual Dail discussion, if it wasn't said in both (im sure its still split) threads I can gaurentee a few voted no because they don't want to pass laws without knowing the affects.
Couldn't be bothered to find out what it was?
Its not the point of whether they didn't bother to look for info, you again presume they will or should. Its the Irish Dail, they need to be spoon fed shit otherwise they have no idea whats happening and have no comprehension of looking for the information themselves...no matter how easy it is.
As a wise man once said, "Never go full 'tard." To bad the Dail didn't listen.
Tropic Thunder, fully agreed Ryan but its a common thing in Ireland.
I have a question. It seems many in eIreland lean toward leftist philosophies of governing. Why are they upset about this tax? Isn't this a shining example of such a government? Impose ludicrous levels of tax on productive citizens, because they obviously can't be trusted to manage their own funds?
I'm a capitalist. It's my damned money, and I'll manage it as I see fit. Reasonable levels of government can be managed on reasonable levels of taxation. Bloated or dictatorial levels of government require unreasonable levels of taxation.
So do we lower the tax to a reasonable and sustainable level, or do we say the government is made up of idiots?
There are people who have access to how the treasury is spent. They are not upset about this tax.
It's a potential boondoggle for anyone who might have their fingers in the till. The lures for corruption are only growing in eireland and many people are determined to keep those lures in place. I trust nearly all of the people at the moment, and I don't think any thieves have access, yet. But the lures of corruption are entrenched in our current system. An unscrupulous person will worm their way in, eventually. We are speeding towards our next great robbery at breakneck pace.
