[eUK Now] Dan Moir on TUP in eUK politics - Interview
Sigfred Zachariasen
TUP is often criticized for being power-hungry and for wanting to rule eUK without intereference from other parties, I sat down with Mr. Dan Moir who will be running for The Unity Party PP.
TUP has been the largest party in eUK for quite a while now, in your opinion why is that?
Simply by being competent and reliable. It takes a lot of hard work to get to number one in the rankings but staying there is more about demonstrating to the voters that we are competent, reliable and are working in the best interests of eUK.
The Unity Party has delivered several CPs through time, and will most likely also deliver the next CP in mr. Talon Karrde without much contest from other parties - could you please comment on this development?
TUP has delivered many great CP's over time (and admittedly, a few awful ones). Talon is one of the best we've had and the fact that he is almost universally respected by both allies and enemy nations alike just goes to show what a nice guy he is. He's also intelligent and hard working and we're delighted that he is able to commit for another term.
Unfortunately the pool of candidates for CP has been dropping over time. As experienced players leave the game, we need newer players getting heavily involved in ministries and congress so that they can go on to lead us when they are ready. We've seen this happenning less and less over the years and I don't think it's a problem that is unique to eUK. This is partly the reason for Talon running almost unopposed but there is also the simple fact that people don't want to put a lot of effort into a campaign that they are destined to lose. People don't like fighting a losing battle.
The Unity Party has been under fire for being too dominant in eUK politics with several CPs, admins and so on - do you think the critic is fair?
No. Of course not. All it takes to become a well known figure in the UK is a bit of intelligence, activity and hard work. A new player could be in congress in their first week if they show activity and they could be running a party within a month or two. Ministry jobs are widely available to pretty much anyone who wants one. All you have to do is put some effort in. It's never been easier to progress in UK politics/government.
In your opinion, do you think that TUP is guilty in nepotism throughout the game?
Absolutely not. The pool of talent in UK is too small to even think about restricting opportunities on a party basis. We need the best people working for our country, irrespective of which party they are from.
You're running for PP ; Is the image of TUP something you want to work with and if yes, how?
Yes, I will be running for PP. I'm not too concerned with the image of TUP. I know the party very well and a great deal of the members. We have a record of good governance that stretches back years. There will always be people who don't like us as a party for whatever reason and they can just get on with their thing and I'll do mine. My primary aim will be to get more of our members active, involved in the party and taking the opportunities available to them, not worrying about what other parties are up to.
There will be increased activity all around but should I be elected, if we don't have more activity in the party by the end of the term, then it won't be due to lack of effort on my part.
What is your greatest wish for eUK?
Well if I'm only allowed one, I guess a babyboom of epic proportions. Then hopefully some of us older players can go into semi-retirement.
What is your opinion on the TUP dominance? Please comment below.

What is your opinion on the TUP dominance?
How many more TUP members interviews can we expect in the next few weeks...i mean you have 200 members and the propaganda machine is being well oiled isn't it?
Also if you've noticed I am not the only critic of the TUP mod clique that run the forums, I had a intelligent debate with a UKPP mod about this shame TUP mods just like to throw insults about and generally blank you when this issue is raised.
@Dr Hugh Jardon
I've done 3 interviews, the past CP and the current CP - they just happen to be TUP. I decided to interview Dan, as I wanted to get a view from a true TUP fellow on this subject.
I'm not writing for TUP, I'm writing for my own newspaper - and future articles will include a wide selection of eUK citizens.
@alfragrem
Great feedback, and welcome back to eUK
Your article, you paid the gold the same as everyone else for a newspaper but i just noticed three interviews with thee TUP members by a TUP member but without any TUP logos making it appear impartial to new players and readers.
They are nicely written by the way
Hugh, I have to take issue with you referring to me as a UKPP mod. My promotion to GMod and my role as one has absolutely nothing to do with my political affiliation and it is no influenced by my political agenda.
The anti-TUP rhetoric is getting very tired and consistently proving to have no real merit or argument. Perhaps we could switch it up and actually focus on targeting those who are perpetuating negative attitudes in the UK.
TUP gives new members a role in politics as soon as they are active on forums and IRC and when they make interesting comments. Sadly some new members do quit the game just after they got a role in the UK politics. The last example of this is Scot Parsons. He became member of congress and was voted as leader of congress. The same happened with a party president of TUP. The main problem is that eRepublik itself is getting worse over time and we can only counter this by a good community I think.
I am glad we have some fairly new people like DaJoXTeR active in TUP and that experienced ones like Dan Moir are doing good jobs. I know we have some more new and promising people active in TUP so soon others will know these people too.
Ergo - So you arent in UKPP or a forum Moderator? I thought you were as thats what your ingame profile says as well as your forum profile. Moderator and UKPP member.
As for anti TUP rhetoric..well if i see an article looking innocently unbiased and has three TUP members interviewed within a week...by a TUP member...where is the harm in telling people who arent aware of that fact?
And i think i provided enough proof that you dropped like a stone and never mentioned again...
Like when i told you about a mod being homophobic...as soon as i told you i had reported it to another mod you never mentioned the subject again. So please dont insult peoples intelligence by saying theres no proof of a clique or that people (more than just myself) are being paranoid.
And perhaps we could focus on the clique that constantly try to stop debates and abuse moderating privileges either by locking threads, deleting posts or handing out infractions and bans? That way we could all enjoy the game. Like today when you locked a thread and accused us of bitching when it was a DEBATE...A DEBATE IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD GOOGLE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IF YOU ARE A MOD!!!! One person makes a point and another makes a counter point...
If some of the mods of the eUK forums actually got out of their bedrooms of their parents house and sttepped away from their student lifestyle you would actually see in pubs that people discuss things and dont always agree. Its not a fight, its not a row, its not bitching or going to end up in civil anarchy. ITS A DEBATE. So grow up ffs
Do something about it instead of moaning all the time, it's boring.
Nice article Sigfred o/
Thanks beta \o
More interesting, I hope, articles to come 🙂
Firstly, Hugh, if you take even a brief look at my profile you'll see it says I'm not in a party. Secondly, my forum profile reads "vCP and Congressman". There is no mention of a party. I removed them - funnily enough - when I left the party.
Secondly, the *point* I was making is that I am a moderator regardless of my politics. It has no influence on how I go about my duties.
Lastly, your response to all of this is to accuse people of being bedroom/basement dwellers? Classy. Grow up.
Do you like your party?
Is your party great?
People say bad things, are they wrong?
I'd ask about it in more depth so as to be able to assess the criticism myself but instead Dear Mr TUP can you tell me so I don't have to make my own mind up?
Ergo Deus -> "Hugh, I have to take issue with you referring to me as a UKPP mod."
Ergo Deus is a TUP mod.
Interesting that we are not tagging party articles with party logos.
Ergo you are right, we need to stop all this political infighting...and you are right to act the statesman. Infact so statesman that a week or so ago away from prying eyes in the forums secretive section you were advocating a take over of another political party -
''we need a classy way of doing this that doesn't draw undue attention''
''...we have justification to aggressively ATO New Era''
Classy and statesmanlike well played on that moral high ground.

Thanks Sigfred. : )
Dan Moir for PP and next CP. woohoo.
I Hate DanMoir
lol'd
oh dear God not again....
In Goku's dream land, there will be no fighting, so maybe he will create political infighting to keep people entertained? I sure find him entertaining anyway.
