It would be good to be able to fight without a weapon, even if you have one in inventory. It may be that you want to give a finishing blow to a red opponent and don't want to use a weapon for that. Or you want to gather more weapons for an important battle and you don't want to consume them in non important battles.
I think this can be achieved if you create a check box in inventory page saying: do not consume weapons. Or you can add an empty slot when you cycle your weapons in a battle.
