Update from the Prime Minister's Office + Congress Week 2

Day 1,939, 06:31 Published in India Canada by Alias Vision

We live in interesting times.

From the Prime Minister's Desk.

As you can see by Alector's article today, India is going through a little bit of a crisis. It is not a crisis created by neglect or incompetence but one created by pressure and expectation.

Someone asked for the context of the situation. In very brief terms, this is how the situation evolved.

As you all know former President Xordin led us through a referendum in which we decided to apply for membership in CoT.

After the formal application process, full CoT nations must vote on whether or not they accept India as a trial member. This must be unanimously agreed or the application is rejected for three months.

Immediately upon taking control of the Government on the 5th, Alector and the rest of the Foreign Affairs department did all they could to talk to voting CoT nations and see if we would have their support. To the best of our knowledge each nation respondent in a positive manner. Although we were not 100% sure (we can never be that), we felt as confident as we could that the vote would go well.

Did we request or ask for guarantees from all these countries as to how they would vote? Of course not. That is not how it works when you are trying to join an alliance. We did our homework and our leg work and India is working on being a better ally. That means, in part, trusting the word of your once and future allies.

On the 10th, CoT had their summit and vote. The results were not unanimous as one country voted against the inclusion of India as a trial member. This was a country we had contacted, which we considered on friendly terms with and who we interpreted as supporting us.

When the news broke, Alector took it personally. He perceived, rightfully, that this was a foreign affairs defeat. It was not however a personal one. This in no way reflects on his ability to lead us and provide leadership. So when he messaged me asking for me to take on acting-President duties while overseeing an impeachment, I did not act on that. What was needed next was perspective which I'm happy to say Congress appears to have understood immediately as well.

Now, in his article President Alector also states that he is cancelling all his other project with the exception of dealing with Croatia as he leaves other endeavours to individuals. My one decision as acting-President was to approve Mr.Heisenberg's Ambassador program. This will continue to go forward and I encourage everyone wanting to participate more in the process of making India successful to sign up. To put it bluntly, we need people to get involved and start talking to people. This can't be done by one citizen and we need to forge stronger ties if we don't want to miss out on votes by one voice in the future.

From Congress.

Congress has been a very sleepy place unfortunately. Citizenship requests are discussed as they come in but dealt with rather rapidly. A tax discussion had started but it did not gain momentum and further changes appear unlikely at this time even though Finance Minister Rebelash approved what has occurred so far.

To add to the feeling of uncertainty, Head of Congress (HoC) Cadfan stepped down over the weekend due to time conflicts. Life always take precedent but that means that Congress is left without a moderator at this time when greater leadership from elected members is needed.

A call has been put to all Congress members if any wish to step up to the role of HoC. Someone asked what the role and responsibility of a HoC would be... right now it is very simple. India needs to increase its activity and so the HoC's main role, in my opinion, would be to champion debate and moderate it. While President Alector concentrates on Croatia, Congress needs to lead in the manner of reform and new initiatives.

This is not too early a time to remind people that will be running this month that Congress is not just 5 gold... it is an opportunity to be heard and lead. Be involved.
