Let’s create ePalestine

Now we have Kosovo on the map. And eRepublik rules have been changed, by offering a vote on whether it should be an independent state or a region of Serbia.

On the basis of this, why not have a vote to add ePalestine.

By creating it in accordance with the 2-state solution we are following a plan that in RL both Israelis and Palestinians have signed up to. Whilst many issues that prevent a final completion of the creation of Palestine do not affect erepublik (such as right of return, etc) – there is one issue that we will need to address - Final status of Jerusalem. I have 2 proposals on this matter:

1) In erep we currently have a ‘Jerusalem District’ in eIsrael. I suggest that this is renamed to ‘West Jerusalem District’ – This reflects the 1967 borders, but it does not reflect current RL Israeli policy that Jerusalem should remain the unified capital of the State of Israel. But to compensate for this...

2) For the Palestinian state we should create just one region called “West Bank & Gaza”. We don’t need to mention East Jerusalem - although we can see from a. that the entirety of Jerusalem is not included in eIsrael. I think this is a useful compromise: Palestinians can consider East Jerusalem to be part of the region and Israelis can contend that it doesn’t – issue side-stepped and we can get on with creating ePalestine.


So there’s my proposal – create a one-region state called ePalestine that takes away none of the existing eIsrael land. There will be those unhappy on both sides with the detail of this, but let’s have a go at this and see where it leads us. Think out of the box, take this in the spirit of the game...

Q&A:

Q: But how many RL Palestinians are in this game anyway?
A: And how many RL Kosovars or North Koreans are there in this game?

Q: But this is a controversial issue and in RL Palestine is not a recognised state?
A: There is an agreement by both Israel and Fattah to create a state based on the 2-state model. There is disagreement about issues such as right of return, final status of Jerusalem/Al-Quds, Israeli settlements in West Bank, mutually agreed swaps from the pre-1967 borders. But these are minor in the context of the Erepublik game mechanics and do not need to be addressed by this game.

Q: This will be a cause for anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda?
A: And the addition of Kosovo won’t cause anti-/pro- Serb and Albanian propaganda? Any such behaviour is against the common laws of erepublik and the admins will deal with people who contravene them.

Q: Israel will just occupy it and then it will no longer exist, why waste time creating it?
A: Serbia will do the same to Kosovo. But let’s not assume anything here. Even under occupation, the addition of a Palestinian state is progress.

Q: A new state will easily be PTO’d.
A: Yes it probably will be. But there are citizens all around the world that empathise with the Palestinians campaign for a state of their own – with support, a mature ePalestinian state could emerge. Let’s give it a chance.

Q: How is this different to adding Abkhazia or Kurdistan?
A: Not completely different, but at least this proposal does not propose taking away any existing eIsrael land (which creation of eKurdistan would) - so I hope this can make it less controversial.

Q: Why do you want a state which is controlled by terror organizations? and was against Osama bin Laden being killed? and they already declared that if there is going to be a Palestinian state, no jews will be allowed to get in (why is it sounds like something from WW2?...) now tell me the true, do you really want this kind of state?
A: No I don't want that kind of state. The erepublik mechanics won't allow that kind of state to exist. We aren't changing RL, we're just adding them in eRepublik. I understand the RL concerns about creation of Israel, and wholly leave that to RL politicians and activists to resolve. I'm just talking about the game here.

Q: Palestine never existed, so why create it?
A: Because this is not about history, it's about eRepublik looking forward to future.

Q: You know you are flaiming now and trying to include RL politics in the game?
A: I reject that accusation. RL politics will detail people's responses to the issue and hence I address these RL concerns, but my article is about an Erepublik issue

Q: Why palestine and not malta or mongolia or gabon? This will be another pointless country and without its rl players.
A: Why eKosovo, the same argument applies.
