Join the new world

In my opinion, eBe's interests are democracy, equality, and unity.



Democracy. I feel that some in this country would like to set up an oligarchy that is built into law (i.e. unelected positions of authority on par with the elected). We are witnessing a time of great uncertainty. As an older player (comparatively), and an experienced politician in eBe, I think I would be a good choice to ensure that our democracy remains strong.

In the spirit of democracy, I will do the following things upon being elected to Congress:
- Start a debate to repeal the following laws:
- The Forum Moderation Act: This law takes away the possible voting privileges of the public in respect to selecting forum moderators. This right should be afforded to the community, not just the Congress.
- The Security Act: This law sets the stage for a power grab by a CP and his/her ministers. Expedited legal decision-making had already been on the law books in the form of the Security Council Act, which gave an elected delegation of Congress Members the ability to make quick national security decisions with the CP. This new law takes away this democratic aspect, and instead leaves decision-making in the hands of the CP. I will act to repeal this law.
- The Senate: This law will give power to an unelected (out-of-game) few to make decisions about our future. It is quite obvious this is an act to create an oligarchy in eBe, and appears to be another power grab. This law had been rejected on Constitution rules, but should it come up for a vote again, I will vote no hard on it!




Equality. French, Dutch, American, UK, we all come from different places in RL. We all speak different languages. But we are all eBelgians, that is for certain. If we need to become bilingual, trilingual, quadlingual...so be it! I'd support that. We have more than enough people in this country that can be translators. And if it counts for anything, in RL, I'm a Canadian, living in the USA, of Dutch (Friesan) descent, and I speak English, French, and a little Dutch.



Unity. As a small country, we cannot afford to be fragmented. The only thing we can pride ourselves on IS our community, and if that goes, so does eBelgium. For this reason, I will circulate a petition on the forums that calls for unity. Signees will pledge to separate the person from the problem, be objective about others' opinions, and focus on the issue at hand, rather than past transgressions. We need to stop being asshats, tr0lls, and immature. By no means am I saying have never been a tr0ll, but everyday I work harder to become an understanding and accepting individual in this community. If I am elected to Congress, I will call on others to do the same!

Hope this gives you some perspective as how I see current events, and why I am deserving of being a Member of Congress from Brussels!
