The impending collapse of EDEN empire
avec
The new war module has received both praise and critique from the community. It has been criticised to be overly simplified, and that it killed strategy from the New World battlefields. With alliances active in every front, basically every country can now launch serious attacks against formerly impossible targets. This overview of mine here won't cover this aspect, but rather how it affects the old alliance structures, and inter-country relations that were based on the old V1 era rules of warfare.
Launch of the new and improved war module: Invasions all across the globe
In V1 (and V2) the world scene was more or less based on the amount of MPPs each country had and especially where they had those MPPs active (meaning fronts between countries). For example, the active MPPs Slovenia had against Poland played a crucial role in the fall of Polish empire last spring, and the lack of active MPPs China had against Serbia allowed Serbia to sit in Liaoning for months. That all changed when admins announced that every country could use their MPPs in both defensive and offensive battles, regardless of were they activated or not by the opposing country. When the new rules were brought to force, immediately the old borders created by the old MPP rules collapsed. Once the untouchable Mother Russia with its impressive MPP collection was crushed by the major EDEN powers that bordered it, and Serbia was evicted from China, thus ending the War of the Three Pillars.
These successful campaigns EDEN had against Phoenix powers lowered the battle morale of Phoenix, nearly collapsing the entire alliance. EDEN gained unprecedent position as the leading superpower of the New World, and every member country used the advantage given by the new war module by launching attacks in every direction. Spain is fighting against Brazil and France, Italy has plunged into Germany with Sweden and Poland, Canada keeps attacking the United Kingdom, Romania wages war against Serbia and Hungary, etc.
Reason why EDEN has been successful in the new war module
Besides this change that MPPs are active on all fronts and countries can now base their success on the splatter damage coming from MPP-related civilian damage from allied countries, the new division of battles into ”mini-battles” has caused armies to change tactics. Instead of the old style to simply prep for the end of one battle, now everybody have to take into account that instead of one battle, there are at least 8 mini-battle endings in one battle, and several battles ending at different times in different wars. In order to win the mini-battles, and in effect the wars every country fights, now armies have orders to emphasize solely in their own fronts: for example, if there are fronts like Romania-Hungary, Spain-Brazil, USA-Indonesia, it's apparent by the look of the battlefields that in the Romanian-Hungarian front these two countries fight against each other with their armies, while in Spain-Brazil the same is true for Spanish and Brazilian armies, and the same in USA-Indonesia. It's not like in the past that countries pooled in their armies and fought collectively in every battle. Now it's each to their own, with the occasional surges of foreign help that gives the needed wedge to win the battles. The reason EDEN has been more successful than Phoenix in this new war module is largely based on this: EDEN has been able to coordinate allied armies better than Phoenix, thus being able to bring more force to battlefields when it has mattered, and also take use of the timezones by coordinating different countries to battles that end at bad time for the direct combatants.
The looming threat over horizon
The rapid successes EDEN has had over Phoenix has made people ecstatic. Everybody want a piece of the pie for themselves now, and the sudden ease of military campaigns has lowered the threshold to launch them, in effect making every country launch attacks rapidly and with no regard to whether the campaigns are actually sustainable nor compatible with every other allied battle going on at the same time. So, as it is, Spain wages war in their cores, while Croatia and Romania fight against Hungary and Serbia. Poland and Sweden are committed to German front, while the Canadians keeps killing the redcoats, USA tries to advance into Indonesia and Finland and Latvia fight against Estonia. In order to win in their respective fronts, now Spain has concentrated in their own battles, as has Croatia, Romania, Poland, Sweden, Canada and USA. With rare occasions, when there is spare damage left, we can see on the battlefields these countries helping each other, but mostly the majority of national armies are concentrated in the fronts that are directly related to their own country.
This is the threat that looms over the empire EDEN has created. Every country has become selfish, expecting other countries to help them while they have no mutual interest to help the others in exchange. If this continues, it is only a matter of time until Phoenix catches on, mobilises and pushes back the divided states of EDEN. Everybody in EDEN should now realize this and start working together again. The war module and players might have changed, but the old wisdoms from V1 still apply: united we stand, divided we fall. I've watched every battle in the New World since the launch of this new war module, and every time, the same has been true: when countries follow orders and priorities coming from central command, we have been victorious. When countries have acted solo and disregarded priorities, we have lost. It is that simple.
This is a wakeup call for EDEN before it's too late. Remember the founding principles to which EDEN is based upon: mutual Respect, Loyalty, Valour, Unity, Friendship and Sacrifice. There is a reason why they were written in the treaty.

same old shit nothing new dude🙂 no empire ever lasted, here or in RL

Everything will get back to normal in few months.
ITT: India were dat gone brah?
all true!

you have a major flaw in your logic, while its true that eden countries are concentrating mainly on their own campaigns on the other side phoenix most also concentrate on several fronts, here lies the biggest advantage eden have ,
if croatia and romania are constantly forcing serbia and hungary to defend their own territories spain should be able to outmatch brazil, usa should be able to outmatch indonesia, poland&italy should be able to push into germany etc etc
the strenght of eden is in the fact that it have many powerful countries, and phoenix have only 2 superpowers which almost match all of the EDEN ones, if those 2 countries are busy concentrating on their soil, and when they have free hands they have to answer the call for help of many small and week phoenix countries currently under invasion
so my point is , war on many different fronts = eden prevailing since it has more semi strong and organized militaries to push on abundance of week phoenix countries
concentrated war efforts = phoenix has a great chance of comeback
as long as eden can harass as many of phoenix countries it can, it will keep them in defensive mode
Everything will get back to normal in few months. x2

united we stand, divided we fall !!!
It was the same in Atlantis, when we worked together we won. When countries looked only at their own interest we both lost wars and fell apart as an alliance.

The question is, are Phoenix any more united than Eden. I mean, Brazil was seen pumping damage into a nothing battle in the Nortern Cape while other key battles were going on. There were ideas about Serbia renting an Aussie region but Indonesian stubbornness stopped that. And considering that Phoenix have more average sized countries while Eden has more large nations, it may be very hard for them to unite when smaller nations need to throw everything to defend themselves.
However I do see validity in your claim that Eden need to be more united, focus on one thing at a time.
Your arguments are valid but keep in mind that focusing the effort of multiple communities works when you have a small number of players.
It paid off for EDEN because the Armies were coordinated and were fighting coordinated .
As for the population goes it's better if all EDEN countries are directly involved in battles because the average player in eSpain will not fight as hard if eRomania attacks eHungary as if eSpain were to attack eBrazil (do not mind the countries .it's just a set of examples .
Overall ..the biggest damage for EDEN is achieved if all countries in EDEN are directly involved in battles .
Of course ..the biggest damage does not always mean a win but for know it seems to be the winning card for EDEN ..mainly because Phoenix is also lacking coordination and in a fight 1 on 1 it seems that EDEN members > Phoenix members.
EDEN's collapse is long overdue don't you think? : P
UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL.
I don't agree with the final of your article. I know for myself how Romania stands on this matter, how much support gave and receive. And everything is just good. Spain is back, France is out, Serbia is out of Asia, Poland and Sweden are all over Germany, Canada has more than half of UK. At the same time Hungary, actually Phoenix no1 country is fighting for survival, 4 of its orig regions are taken by Croatia and Romania.
Don't see anything negative to be noticed.
Keep up the good spirit!
We are helping and we are helped.
Together we'll win them all.

nice article avec
there have been many long pauses in eCanada UK invasion so that we can help our allies, especially Spain recently - what you say is not the practice of Eden allies as far as I can tell, but it is something we need to guard against.

UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL. x3
You will collapseonly when your players get bored of winning everywhere - atm we cannot compete. Before, when one alliance was more powerful, they would wipe enemies who had opened MPPs - Canada, Spain etc opened MPPs in French Toast, when Atlatnis was better, then France killed them when Peace was better. Now the more powerful alliance can beat every enemy, as it is all of EDEN v all of Phoenix in every battle, no need to activate MPPs.
@ vladb: Of course, we're winning now exactly because EDEN upholds global superiority in numbers, thus when more fronts are open, generally EDEN has more damage pouring in the battles than Phoenix. I don't criticise the multiattack style at all, that's the thing that allows EDEN to be on the winning side at the moment.
@ Bogdan_L: I mostly wrote this as a warning and exaggerated the issues at hand so they will never happen. We're just a few battles away from total victory if everything goes as planned, so no, I'm not spreading negative feelings 🙂
avec is right...

BTW I translated it into spanish: http://www.erepublik.com/es/article/la-inminente-ca-iacute-da-del-imperio-de-eden-traducido--1573148/1/20
The new war module gives a great advantage to attackers. Every region you take makes it harder for the defender to come back - they lose income and must pay the same amount of gold to attack as the attacker paid.
Therefore every region taken from Phoenix helps EDEN. Less regions translates to less companies, less MPPs and less damage - which in turn increases the chances of success elsewhere.
