I write this article with a glad heart; today in my inbox I received this most welcome message from "admin":
"THB removed from accounts
Hello,We have removed the 100.000 THB from the "Czech OS Q1" hospital transaction.Regards,The eRepublik Team."
Examining Iron Bank, I can see that half of the ill-gotten gains it has received have indeed been disappeared, so I have no doubt that this email underlines a fait accompli.
In light of this, I put forward for public consideration the following: should we lift the boycott of TNT companies? The boycott was enacted specifically as a response to the Czech Hospital perfidy; as this injustice has been right as best it can be, should we not then lift the boycott?
I will suggest that we do. Thoughts?
Comments
Good idea. We should start 'reconciliation talks' - not only lifting boycotts.
It depends on the company owners. Those companies run by hardheaded nincompoops should be avoided, others are all right to whitelist.
I will admit that I suggest lifting the boycott with wariness, as it is glaringly obvious that TNT had been stealthily looting the eThai treasury for the last month and a half of beta; if you doubt this, consider that only 1/2 of the 20k THB Antonio donated to Iron Bank has disappeared, meaning that only 1/2 of this came from the Hospital heist (incidentally, this jives with some statements he'd made; the Hospital netted him 21k baht, but after returning 20k of that he stated he'd returned 20k of the 30k he'd received).
While stripping 100000 baht from the TNT treasuries is a step towards forcing them to play on a level field, it seems unlikely that they're not still operating on eThai government funding, though given their bloated wages and inordinately low prices it's possible they've burned through most of it.
Hence, I shall not unreservedly call for the boycott to be lifted, but merely put the idea forth for public discussion while guardedly endorsing it.
Oh, gosh! I was just going to write an article about that. I'd received this awesome message too.
If TNT-owned companies are prepared to help our marketplace stabilization, so I don't see any reason for now to keep the boycott.
But, personally, I'll never buy any products of them, since they had tried to harm our Economy several times.
Best wishes.
So where did the money go? I dont think its in the Thai treasury.
Jack:
For all practical purposes, it's in the treasury. You'll recall that the old bug meant no funds were actually removed from the treasury after the Hospital vote occurred; I'd say it's now safe to assume none ever shall be on account of that purchase.
So will we get the gold back that was taken to issue another burn of baht?
no gold was taken
I say we start reconciliation talks, don't lift the boycott yet, TNT still could hold something up their sleeves
Im not implying that Rockman and TNT took gold, Im saying that due to the amount of baht stolen, the treasury was forced to issue more baht, and it is my understanding that it costs gold to do so. The gold flies off to Never Never Land or the admins host crazy stripper parties with it.
Did this not happen?
No, it did not. That only happens if baht is donated. The Hospital baht was not donated, it was used for a purchase. In such a case Gold is never expended; we had... hmm... 23g maybe before, and we had the same sum after.
(At the time of the heist, the rules were that more baht would be issued if the treasury dipped below 10k. The baht never actually left the treasury, so there was no risk of this occurring, but even if it had, there had been 120k in the treasury, so it would have been safely above the threshold for auto-printing.)
I torn as well for much of what is stated above. However, activity is needed in Thailand. I say we drop the whitelist.
I think we should now stop the boycott, If we want to build an inclusive eThailand we need to look towards the future instead of being bitter about past transgressions. This does not mean forgive and forget. Perhaps we could call it a peace offering.
It would be great if the TNT members embraced the new economy and helped get the raw materials in Thailand going strong by working for raw material companies-even though they may not be TNT owned.
I think TNT member's doing this will show that they care for the greater good and are not solely driven by greed and are not still puppets beholden to the old TNT dogma.
Finally, the talk will start.
Pardon my agressive stance, but its the way I live, but maybe we shouldn't reconcile TNT, they obviously commited a sort of treason against us, we noble Thai. Allowing them to regain the ability to gain power in thailand should not allowed, we must push for more restrictions against the TNT party before they ruin us!
You guys are all talk and no actions, go to the market and see, the TNT companies are still selling like before this so called boycott, the eThay people have already forgiven TNT, and you guys should do the same.
Maximus, as has been said repeatedly, the point was not to crush TNT companies under our heel, but rather to make sure they couldn't do that to opposition companies.
I'll personally probably continue favoring non-TNT companies over TNT companies for the foreseeable future, but that'll be my personal choice (brand loyalty, if you will), and not part of an organized boycott.
Maximus, why haven't Q3 food costs gone down with all other food costs? Q1 and Q2 food prices have dropped dramatically while Q3 food of which TNT is the only domestic supplier have stayed steady since long before beta.
beorn, when haon haon houses star to sell q2 houses our price will be very cheap for q2 houses, will trp houses reduces it prices also?
we start selling cheap moving tickets, some prices reduced, but TRP company stay very expensive.
and also, q3 food is our try, from TNT, to bring good food for eThai population, only with HIGH skilled workers, we are looking forward to reduce the costs and reduce the prices or maybe upgrade to Q4 but keep the price.
Haon Haon houses, according to you, was intended as a Q1 supplier of houses for the lottery, not as a money making venture. I'll understand if you've changed but it would be nice to hear about it.
You still haven't answered why Q3 food is 10 times as expensive as Q2 food.
haon haon houses is not money making, we have up it to q2, and are creating low cost q2 houses to help the goverment with house program, if he wishes to create one, and also show to the people that eThai can sell q2 houses CHEAPER.
I all ready explain why the expensive cost of q3 food, is a company with many high skill workers, we dont pay our men only with love. But in some days of the month we low the prices for the whole day, i dont know if you notice it, but many people did.
Antonio, you seem to have missed my point. Other Housing companies are offering prices which are not, in fact, securing them exorbitant profits. If you can honestly offer Q2 Houses for 250 baht, that's lovely... but most companies can't, and there's not enough labor to go around for them to adopt your business model.
Furthermore, you couldn't afford to offer these prices without running sweatshops; I'm personally fine with this, as I've never worked in an eCompany that actively competed on the labor market for more than 2 days. But I can't and won't forget who said "i´ve suggested 20thb [minimum wage], but they say it is to high" just 14 days ago. So please spare me the sanctimonious "you dont want the best for eThai" line, m'kay? I don't think all of our memories are quite that short.
Albright, one day the minimum wage in Thai will be 20 thb.
Maybe our actions in the past were desctrutive for eThai, but when we try to help you try to destroy it, and also mind one thing i am no blind or dumb, i know that people read our OS forum topic, so i now what i can write there or not, and sometimes is funny to blef.
You stated that you were making a Quality ONE company to provide housing cheap for the housing lotto. You have now doubled your costs in moving to Q2 for no apparent reason. You had 3 months in power to start any of these programs. You didn't. Ergo you are again trying to sabotage others.
Oh and that 20 THB minimum wage would destroy utterly the economy of eThailand. Food would be 30 THB a unit even for Q1 food.
sorry, but when we try to create this program no citizen in eThai( in fact only one show) and also no company offer itself to help the govern.
So dont blame only TNT goverment, because we werent the only factor that abort the programs.
You had three months in which to create your own housing company like you are now. You didn't. Now you are trying to claim innocence and continue to destroy the opposition with dumped goods.
ok, beorn, maybe in all sector it is destructive, put we can make a table with the govern of salarys for each area and for skill, that is also good.
of course a 0 skill worker earning 20 thb is unrealistic, but i think that in a short time we can rise it to 5thb.( but first rise to 2,3,4)
Wow less then 10 minutes and you already backed off your position. Way to go. Any minimum wage is going to increase the cost of goods. If a 0 skill workers is earning 5 THB for producing nothing, then a 4 skill workers should be earning at least 15. That will raise prices across the board. And yes at 0 skill a worker produces nothing whatsoever.
No i handt 3 months, my first months i hadnt experience and i hadnt influence in the party. The first plan of the party was to create food companies and also high quality food, them we started to invest in other areas. You can search, in the majority of the areas TNTs products are cheaper, maybe we dont have lots of profit as you TRP guys, but we believe that with low prices we are helping thai.
You always said that we used to act like blind people, now you look the blind one my friend. When ealb said he wanted to be the president of TRP i said( in his article) that for me it was a good idea( because i believe that we would start an era of peace between TNT and TRP, the 2 largest parties of eThai, because together we can make eThai much better), we open our arms to hug you as brothers, but looks like you dont want this, looks like this thing of "union" you´ve just say for people vote in you.
beorn, that back-off show that i can talk and negotiate, but look like you cant do it.
Your food is 15 times as expensive as Q2 food. You claim cost of business but the Q2 food is only half as expensive as Q3 assuming normal worker salaries. Charmin Ultra and Urist's Mountainhomes have next to zero profit. I know. I am a shareholder in both and have received no profits becaues there aren't any. Yes TNT had 3 months of power in which any one of them could have taken the reins and started housing and gift companies at sweatshop wages like we in TRP did with housing and food to better the eThailand economy. No member of TNT did this until it was obvious that they had to improve party image to stand a chance of regaining power.
Note also that all your companies seem to be running on stolen funds. Don't claim you are helping eThailand by driving everyone else out of business through theft.
I have never said you were blind. Do not try and put words in my mouth. I have said you are trying to destroy the competiton and will continue to say such for as long as you do so. Indeed the TNT wiki page says such.
1- i´ve already told you why our food is so expensive, but i will talk with the manager t osee if he can reduce it a little if it please you.
2- sorry, a long time that our companies arent running with stolen funds. When this funds were there they were only as a bank.
3- We just create house company now because we had priorities, like, we are already saving money to upagrade one of our companies or open a new one.
4- i dont see nothing in the TNT wiki pages about our economic plans for eThai, but thank you for warn me, there are something to change in the wiki page.
5- ok, if it wasnt you, many of your party members say that, and now i say, you look like a blind man, or deaf, because i am trying to talk and looks like you wanna shout
6- you already have my msn, now i have personal things to do, good night, see you later and good luck Ealb as the new TRP president.
>You can search, in the majority of the areas TNTs
>products are cheaper, maybe we dont have lots of
>profit as you TRP guys, but we believe that with
>low prices we are helping thai.
As Beorn pointed out, your cheap prices were propped up by off-the-record government subsidization all through beta. Most of us didn't have 30k baht (or even your earlier "mere" 10k baht) to work with, so we kinda sorta had to be more frugal with wages and more miserly with prices.
And again, as Beorn stated, I don't know how much profit old guard TRP companies have been reaping (though they paid higher wages that the young Turk sweatshops, so they presumably had tighter profit margins)... but I do recall how feeble Housing sales were until prices plummeted after v1 was launched. Prices may have been high, but few could afford to pay them, so it was somewhat irrelevant in terms of profits.
>3- We just create house company now because we
>had priorities,
/sigh
This is so true. You had Q3 Food, Q3 Weapons, and Q2 Gifts as your high-priority companies... almost seems like there might be a theme there... hmm... what could it possibly be?
the possibility is, us from TNT finance war, we live for war, and actually we are leading with many resistance groups, are you ok?
Good. Then don't try and claim you have the good of the nation in mind.
War is inherently bad for an economy as bad as ours. In a stabilized economy a war almost always increases cash flows and helps to quicken the economy. In an economy as weak as ours currently is wars drain our number one resource, workers. With people leaving constantly to go fight, we can't maintain the workforce. In addition when the soldier come back from fighting in wars that hold no value to eThailand, their wellness has been drastically reduced. That further lowers their productivity and weakens our economy further. If you want to fight go live somewhere else. Some people are trying to improve the conditions in the country with more then face saving offers.
Don't forget that Gifts that could be used to keep our workers healthy are instead being squandered to help your filibusters have a few laughs with their jolly little wars.
I am always sending gifts to my friends when i have money, and time. The goverment will start soon the gift for all program, no?
I really dont understand why you all cre too much with TNT members going to wars. We produce gifts for us and for the country.
How many Gifts are currently on the market? 5 as of this writing. That seems typical of late. There would be a sight more if we didn't have a bunch of mercs running around smashing their Wellness down to where they NEED 5 or 10 Gifts.
Gifts currently are reasonably scarce in eThailand. Artificially inflating the demand by going out and trading Wellness for XP doesn't help the eThai economy, and doesn't help the Gift shortage. Indeed, pretty much the only people it helps are the filibusters receiving the Gifts and XP.
Mind you, it's a free eCountry. If that's what you want to do, we can't stop ya. But we can, and likely will, call out claims that your private adventurism is GOOD for eThailand... or even not disruptive.
