Squiddy - Running For TUP Leadership

Day 420, 19:53 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Squiddy

Dear fellow TUP members, (If you haven't done so already go here: www.erepublik.co.uk)

It has once again come round to that time of the month, (that's not a dig at you wazcaster), the glorious time of the month where every party in every country throughout the world gets together and discusses the ever looming party elections, to decide their new Party Leader. The debating has concluded. The next step is to put the conclusions gained from the discussions into practice by voting for your next party leader.

It is my hope that you judge each person and not their political mask.

I've contributed my entire e-life to The Unity Party, since day one. I've never been a member of any other party and I don't ever intend to. (Well, if TUP suddenly implodes I might change my mind but I won't let that happen!)

Since day one, I've put a lot of effort into TUP with the sole intention of the rejuvenation of TUP and to bring it back to the days of power, when TUP was seen as a major party and not in a league below PCP and UKRP.

A lot of the newer members won't know what the situation was like back then, so I'll give them an idea. Posts in TUP's forum were less than 10 a day, as a comparison we've had 594 posts since the move to the new forums.

Back then, our total member count compared to UKRP and PCP were anything but close. At the time of writing this article, PCP have 255 members and we have 205. PCP are no longer a huge party in comparison to TUP. We are also gaining ground over UKRP, how ever slight that may be.

Back then, we would struggle to find more than 4 good candidates for each region. (Known as Mayors back then). Now, we have the largest majority of congressmen out of all the party's - including UKRP.

Have I been achieving my goals? I'll leave the decision up to you.

There has been a lot of discussion with TUP about each policy and how it should be done. Here is a list of policies that I'll try to implement - regardless of if I'm voted in or not, because that's the thing. There's nothing stopping malta, for example, doing most of the things he listed on his manifesto if he's not elected as PP.

TUP Council

This will face a re-structure and will include the following positions

Party Leader

Media Council - Responsible for the running of the party paper which has the dual functionality of acting as our media outlet and party whip.

Media Executive (one)
Council Members (no limit)

Administration Council - Responsible for editing TUP's wiki page, maintaining TUP's New Player section; including the new Guides section and forum recruitment.

Administrative Executive (one)
Council Members (no limit)

I am very much in favour of a simple system whereby people are allowed to use their initiative and given the opportunity to work together as a team, as opposed to being forced into one job as it allows for a much better work environment - which at the end of the day is what everyone wants.

Furthermore, there will be a new requirement for any would-be TUP Congressman - They must be involved in a party council. I feel that party politics has been ignored for long enough now. If you want TUP to do you a favour by getting you into Congress, you're going to have to start doing the party some favours.

That's it as far as policies go. I didn't feel the need for a long list to make up the bulk of my manifesto when I can get it all in under two sections - makes life much easier!

As a final word, I would like to take this opportunity to list a few more reasons as to why you should vote me.

Experience - I have done many, many jobs within the Government, from Mayor, (two terms), to Congressman, (five terms), to apprentice and Under Minister of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the actual MoFA itself, (two terms), to the Reserve CO and last but not least, Leader of TUP, (two terms).

Commitment - In every term I have ever served I have left a positive mark. I am one of the most active congressman, I have done a lot of work for the army and did a lot for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs too.

I'd like to say to all TUP members that the future of The Unity Party is in your hands, now and forever more. Myself, nor anyone else can force any of you to vote against your own preference, all we are able to do is provide information for each member to base their opinions on and ultimately decide on who to vote for.

So please make sure you read all the information and vote accordingly!

Good luck to all my opponents!

Regards,

Squiddy - Leader of The Unity Party.
