Why you should not sell your vote
Rigour6
Take it from someone who has seen it:
The kind of people who buy votes, rather than actually form a relationship with you and run on a platform, will hurt the cause of your nation.
When they do that, your game experience can really be seriously wrecked.
It is the equivalent of letting someone pay you $100 to set fire to your house.
You will NOT come out ahead in the long run.
Be a responsible citizen.
Take a few moments to educate yourself on who the candidates are, what their experience and reputation are in-game, and what they've written.
This is as much your civic duty as any fight in any battle ever was.
The practice of buying votes flourishes because people fail to appreciate the true cost of a mercenary polity until it is too late. Even now, many good candidates feel obligated to offer compensation to at least "match" the bribes of less scrupulous types.
The only way this pernicious practice will end is if you, the common voter, refuse to sell your birthright for a bowl of pottage.
Don't sell yourself short.

V+S. Fully echo those sentiments.
Tanks today, and suffer the rest of the month
Well said, though I think part of the issue is that many have become to lazy or uninterested in politics, to bother investing in relationships that matter. Its a shame really but I cant help but feel that is part of the issue.
I think you are right about that, AM.
Why? Elections are a joke. New players (and old) are told where to vote, when to vote, and who to vote for. People can move between parties or states freely during an election and everyone knows exactly who's winning or losing at any time during the election. It is completely manipulable and therefore, a farce. eRep votes are a commodity and commodities have a value determined by the market.
Buying votes is legal where there are fake votes.
''The only way this pernicious practice will end is if you, the common voter, refuse to sell your birthright for a bowl of pottage.''
No need to say this to those with moral credentials. To preach to someone without them, it's pointless.
Agreed with you, Rigour!
What's the going rate for a vote anyway?
Next month, mine goes to the highest bidder.
