The flag of Cyprus (Greek: Σημαία της Κύπρου simea tis Kipru, Turkish: Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti bayrağı) came into use on August 16, 1960, under the Zürich and London Agreements, whereby a constitution was drafted and Cyprus was proclaimed an independent state. The flag was designed by Turkish Cypriot art teacher İsmet Güney.
The state flag features a map of the entirety of the island, with two olive branches below (a symbol of peace) on white (another symbol of peace). The olive branches signify peace between the Turks and Greeks. The map on the flag is a copper-orange colour, symbolizing the large deposits of copper ore on the island (chiefly in the form of chalcopyrite, which is yellow in colour), from which it may have received its name.



The flag of Kosovo has a blue background, charged with a map of Kosovo and six stars. The stars are officially meant to symbolize Kosovo's six major ethnic groups:[7] Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Gorani, Roma (often grouped with the Ashkali and Egyptians[8]) and Bosniaks. Unofficially, the stars are sometimes said to represent six territories with Albanian population: Albania, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.[9] The flag of Kosovo resembles that of Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of colors and shapes used (white stars and yellow shape of the country on a blue field).[10] The flag is unusual among national flags in using a map as a design element; the Flag of Cyprus is the only other to do so



We are welcoming the only country other than Cyprus who has its territory in the flag.

Bayrak, Kıbrıslı Türk ressam İsmet Güney tarafından çizildi. Kosova'nın bağımsızlığını ilan etmesine kadar uzun süre üzerinde bir ülkenin haritası bulunan tek resmi bayraktı. Adadaki iki toplumun ortak bayrağının "tarafsız" olması gerektiği düşünüldüğünden, Türk ve Yunan bayraklarındaki kırmızı ve mavi renklerden özellikle kaçınıldı. Barışı simgeleyen beyaz zemin üzerine Kıbrıs adasının haritası, antik çağlardan beri işletilen ve adaya adını veren bakır madenlerini simgeleyen sarı renkle (pantone 144-C) temsil edilmiştir. Haritanın altında yine barışı temsil eden ve adada bol bulunan bir bitki olan iki yeşil (pantone 336-C) zeytin dalı bulunur. Bayrağın ebatı 3:5 oranındadır.



Kosova bayrağı mavi arka plan üzerine 6 yıldız ve onun altında bulunan Kosova haritasından oluşur. Altı yıldız ülkede Türkler de dahil olmak üzere yaşayan altı etnik grubu temsil eder. Bağımsızlığın ilanı ile birlikte yeni Kosova bayraklarının büyük bir kısmı Türkiye'de üretilmiştir.[1] Ülkesinin topraklarını taşıyan Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti bayrağından sonra ikinci bayraktır.



Kıbrıs dışında sınırlarını bayrağın içinde taşıyan tek devlet olan Kosova'yı kucaklıyoruz.
